LCD or Plasma - Which is better!

Television ShopWhen shopping for a new Television the number one question most of us are pondering over is which television is better, LCD or Plasma?

Without going into the technical stuff which may make a great article but is rather boring to average readers, let’s try and give you some points and let you decide which type of television is more in line with your requirements.

When buying a new television there are three factors that should be considered before you start shopping for your TV.

1. The amount of space you
    have where you intend to
    place the TV.

2. The lighting in the room where the television will go.

3. Of course as with any other purchase money is an important factor to take into consideration. How much you want to spend on your new television.

Which TV will last longer? Plasma or LCD

The most common question that people often have is which will last longer, a Plasma TV or an LCD? The display panel life of both are said to be around 60,000 hours.

Size of TV

The size of the television set that you want to buy may play an important role in deciding whether you should buy Plasma or a LCD TV set.

If you wish to buy a smaller size television, say less than 32” then you have no choice but to buy a LCD Television. The reason is the smallest Plasma Television set is 32”. So anything less than 32” will have to be an LCD TV.

The smallest size of plasma television set that you can buy in today’s market is 32 inches. The most popular plasma TV size is 42".

Power Consumption of LCD - PLASMA Televisions

Plasma Televisions supposedly consume more power but the difference may be so minor that this should not be a deciding factor when selecting a television set for purchase.

LCD televisions use more or less a constant amount of power. On the other hand in Plasma televisions the power consumed is more for brighter scenes and lower for darker scenes. So when you take the average and compare Plasma and LCD power consumption over a period of time, it is said to be roughly the same.
